City Nature Challenge this weekend (30th April - 3rd May)

Thank you all for providing your opinions on the Biodiversity Strategy. The consultation closes on the 14th May so please do share it with friends and networks you may think may be interested.

I wanted to draw your attention to the City Nature Challenge, which happens this weekend (30th April - 3rd May). City Nature Challenge is an annual global celebration of urban nature, aiming to connect people in cities to local nature, build online and in-person communities and collect urban biodiversity data for use in scientific research, land management, and conservation. This year fourteen UK cities are taking part among over 400 around the world.

Participants are asked to find and photograph nature near them. Then, between 4th-9th May there is time for uploading photographs to iNaturalist - either the website or using the app - and help identify other's photographs if you can. In London it is being coordinated by the Natural History Museum, and further information, including links to the iNaturalist app and websites, can be found here: https://www.fscbiodiversity.uk/blog/city-nature-challenge .

Of course I would encourage you to photograph and submit your sightings of wildlife at any time of the year and help add to our knowledge of the borough's wildlife. You can do this via Greenspace Information for Greater London: https://www.gigl.org.uk/submit-records/ but I have also provided some species-specific recording scheme links on our 'How to Help Nature' Page: https://www.camden.gov.uk/wildlife-areas#cytc

Have a lovely nature filled weekend!
